Who Would Jesus Assassinate?

By Hugh J. Donagher, III | December 31, 2008

Apparently the president of of Iran. This according to our new national pastor, Rick Warren, in his appearance on FOX “News” program Hannity & Colmes. Watch for yourself:

Okay, then. Open season on “evildoers.” Careful, the “gooddoers” are protected, so leave them alone. He who holds the gun makes the call as to which list Warren himself appears on. Happy Hunting!

I’m glad that you’re pursuing your own personal quest here. However, I believe you’re on the wrong track when you try to find out what God would do by quoting one single individual. Frankly, it sounds like you’re playing political games and using What Would God Do? as merely satire (which may, in fact, be your intent).

By pointing out hypocrisy among the faithful, you’re merely illuminating a truth that we’ve known about for several thousand years; the Church is not a cathedral for saints, but rather a hospital for sinners.

Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment, Glen. This is definitely a work in progress and it’s only just begun.

Satire is not my intent here, though the temptation to satirize is admittedly strong. Perhaps that would be a better use of this medium.

Frankly, this is a place for me to vent my frustration with people like Rick Warren, who claim a pious calling and label themselves as followers of a man who taught something very different that what they preach to the masses in his name.

This is a bit more than pointing out the hypocrisy among the faithful; this is calling out someone who uses his hypocrisy as a weapon against humanity and, in particular, against me. I don’t have the luxury of an appearance on Hannity and Colmes to defend God against this man, so I do so here, in my own humble way.
